Setting up your own website can be daunting, whether you’re a novice techie or a more experienced technical mind. Join me as I explore WordPress’ capabilities, and we’ll determine how beginner-friendly the application really is. No cheating, here. We’re throwing ourselves into the deep end of the pool, and we’re learning to swim without a life vest.
I’m Tonya, and this is the webpage for my new company, Drag & Fly Press, LLC. An independent publishing company for my up-and-coming new novels. I like to describe myself as a “future best-selling author.” This keeps me motivated and holds me accountable.
Over the course of the next several weeks, I will figure out what I actually want my site to look like. How to set them up. Figure out available templates. I have yet to figure out how to use the modules. Maybe a checklist would be best.
- Figure out how to post blogs and add links. (I think this post will be a good test for this point.)
- Collect visuals, take pictures, crop pictures to fit, etc
- Import media and determine which types of media can be imported or linked
- Set up my “about” page
- Fine-tune the home page
- Set up a product page. This will be a new page at this point.
- Work through the layouts of each page, and create test-posts for each page
We’re in for a ride, so grab a drink, buckle up, and away we go!
